Cooking Pork Tenderloin on the Grill

!9#: Cooking Pork Tenderloin on the Grill

Preparing a pork tenderloin on the grill has got to be one of my favorite meals of all time.  It was a regular staple of my cooking arsenal years ago, but over the past few years I have been dealing with a charcoal grill rather than a gas grill, and for the way I like to grill pork tenderloin, it was just too much trouble with the small, portable charcoal grill I had (it was all I had access to).  I tried it several times, but not only was it a challenge getting a full pork loin to fit on that little grill, but I was never able to control the heat well enough to handle the cooking the way I wanted it done.  Now that I have a new Viking gas grill to work with... oh boy, oh boy, oh BOY!

The thing about cooking a pork tenderloin on the grill is that it's really easy to get really good results, and to really impress your friends, family or whomever else might be sitting at your table.  On top of that, cooking pork is actually quite healthy.  Pork is very low in fat, and is very adaptable to many different recipes.  It also takes on flavors very well, so if you want to add a wet or a dry rub, or perhaps a marinade (from a simple store-bought Italian dressing, which is something I like a lot, to more fancy, home-made concoctions handed down through the generations...)  The one thing you do need to be careful about is that because pork is such a low fat content meat, it has a tendency to dry out quickly if it's not prepared properly.

So how do you prepare it properly?  Well, one thing you can do (other than the store bought Italian dressing technique I just mentioned), is to soak your tenderloin in brine for anywhere from 10 to 12 hours, or even as much as 24 hours if you want to.  Brine is simply salt water.  You can add 2 to 3 tablespoons of good salt (I prefer Kosher salt, but many people swear by sea salt) to a quart of water and just let the pork loin soak in that, covered, in the fridge.  Doing this will help ensure you have a nice, juicy pork loin when you take it off the grill.

As for grilling, you will need to cook on 2 different temperatures.  This is why I like my new gas grill so much; I can crank it up to get it good and hot, then just turn the dial down when it's time to slow cook.

Cooking With A Gas Grill

!9#: Cooking With A Gas Grill

Cooking foods with a gas grill has exploded in popularity over the years. 60%-80% of all grilling is done over a gas grill. This is due in part because there are so many advantages in cooking with a gas grill over using a charcoal grill. Let's take a closer look at why the gas grill is so popular with the backyard chef.

1. Gas grills are very convenient to use. Most all of them use propane to heat with and they are very simple to start. It's as easy as turning on the propane and pushing the starter button on the grill. This is probably the single biggest convenience of all in cooking with a gas grill.

With charcoal grilling you have to dump in a bag of charcoal, pour lighter fluid all over it and then light them. You will need to constantly check to see if they are burning and it will take 20-30 minutes before the grill is even ready to begin cooking.

2. Gas grills have built in thermometers to assist you in cooking your foods properly. You will know exactly how hot your flame is. Most all charcoal grills lack this important feature.

3. With a gas grill you can cook several different types of food at various temperatures, all at the same time. This is because most every gas grill has separate burner controls so one side of the grill can be hotter than the other side. That makes cooking meats and vegetables so convenient. Some gas grills even have a pot warmer that you can use to heat foods in a pan, such as baked beans, or soup.

4. Another huge advantage of cooking with a gas grill is the weather. You can literally cook with a gas grill year round, even in cold weather climates with snow outside.

5. Gas grills are also much easier to clean than charcoal grills. There are no messy charcoal ashes to dispose of. A gas grill will cool off much faster than charcoal. It will allow you to be able to clean after you are finished eating your meal. You can simply remove a grill section after cooking and scrub it down. It's very quick and easy, with very little mess.

6. One big safety point to keep in mind is that propane is highly flammable. You must follow all the safety instructions when handling propane tanks. Be sure to always inspect the fuel lines and look for any cracks, or leaks. A cracked line or leak could possibly lead to a fire, or even an explosion.

Gas grills are very safe to use as long as you use common sense and follow the precautions. If you see any potential problems, check them out and get them fixed. Be sure to only use propane tanks that are approved for grilling use. Never try to use a homemade tank.

Barbecuing with a gas grill is fun and easy. It's so convenient and the foods that are cooked on a gas grill taste great! It's no wonder they are so popular with homeowners everywhere.

!9# NuWave Oven Buyer Review - What Does Cooking With Infrared, Convection, and Conduction Cooking Mean?

I think we all like on TV infomercials you see NuWave Oven. The hype is this:

"If you save interest in finding a class of kitchen equipment kitchen, time, space and money without compromising large meals, it's time to look into a NuWave oven!"

"If you're a busy, enjoy the food at home, but has little interest in the preparation of meals, the NuWave oven is perfect!"

"If you're pulled in many directions when it comes to eating and meal planning to achieve often settle for a delicious dinner frozen microwave, oven Nuwave than fast and far!"

"If you do pack on the pounds because of slovenly habits, it's timea change in the Nuwave oven! "

How can you counter top kitchen appliance, known as the NuWave possibly live up to all these accusations?

Well, in all honesty I was skeptical, but since all my children are now out of the house, I found myself increasingly disinterested in time in the kitchen, dining room to keep, but too often, so - I decided to do a little research with the intention of buying.

Note: If you scroll up to read the whole review down to my Wrap UpSection at the end of this article.

What exactly is infrared, convection and conduction?

COME ON announced the TV infomercial ad nauseum seen the NuWave Oven an extraordinary piece of technology for the 21 Century, cooking methods because it is infrared, convection and conduction resulting combines unrivaled.

For most of us, these terms do not mean a fish fry, a cow, so I did a little research and here's what I learned.

Infrared heat

Infrared(Say, infrared) energy is easier to light as a force that shakes the molecules of thought. As these molecules begin to shake it to get warm. This stove that heats the heat of the light faster and reach higher temperatures faster than ovens, stove pipe.

The best way to illustrate infrared heat, is to imagine you are sitting around the fire and someone pulls the marshmallow on a stick. The coals that white sugar puff pastry is brown crunchy goodness there is aprimitive form of infrared cooking. And 'red radiant heat to work.

Heat conduction

Heat pipe is a direct contact between the heat source and as part of a ladle of cooking heat transfer, which has placed in the pan. Top frying and steam cooking is the best known examples. The burner transfers heat to the pan, the pan transfers heat to the meat. The longer the contact, lower the heat.

Convection

Hot air isnot really cook, but it produces heat by conduction into circulation and / or sources of infrared heat with a sort of ventilation system. This allows the heated air evenly and quickly, so the cooking time dramatically with the NuWave promises up to 50%.

The Nuwave somehow all three methods of cooking in a small boiler house full of energy of about 15 "high and 15" in length. All his statements suggest that the heat conduction, convection and infrared technology, I can personally vouchthat:

It 'fun to cook food up to 50% faster, saving time and energy It will seal in juices, so do not add fats or oils are required, supports weight loss It takes little to no water to preserve the natural nutrients, which makes it more healthy to cook the vegetables. The set and forget technology works with the food is frozen for quick meals and easy.

When you order the NuWave Oven

I met with the NuWave Oven sales page and had no trouble ordering the oven. ITired of all the pressure and up-selling "free" promotional products that are thrown in. The extra products for free, but shipping costs are so exorbitant extra time in which to pay those who have simply moved on and an additional $ 40. for the "free" bonus products.

There was no difficulty in ordering the NuWave. I buy stuff online all the time, so there was nothing unusual about the process, but if you feel more comfortable ordering by phone instead of using a debit card orCredit Card online, the button "Order now" and order the phone number appears at the top of the screen.

If you want to buy, but do not want to extend a one-time payment in full, you can get a monthly payment plan starting at $ 13.99 per month. I do not know how it works, because I paid full price at the time of purchase.

Save money when ordering tricks

I learned a few tricks to save money when ordering. If you are ready to buy, browsePage order, then press the button to close the page on your computer, you get a pop-up with $ 10.00 off the shipping costs! Press the "Cancel" button on the pop-ups and you've saved $ 10!

It took about 8 days for the Nuwave be delivered to my door via FedEx. Here's another money saving tip, do not pay for shipping, FedEx delivered in any case, a few days later, the expensive, overnight delivery service.

What was promised and what IGot

The web site promised I would get with the basic order with no extras:

A cookbook, 25 Gourmet recipe cards, an easy reference laminated cooking guide, carrying case, how to DVD, and a 2 Year extended warranty on electrical components.

Everything was included. I haven't bothered watching the DVD; the instruction manual inside the cookbook, covered all my immediate questions.

I like the carrying case because I'm on the road a lot, makes this little gem easy to transport.

I'm working through the Cookbook. The goal is to try out every recipe. So far half of the ones I've tried have come out exactly as the recipe said it would, the other half needed some adjustments with cooking times.

My favorite accessory is the "Quick and Easy Cooking Guide". It's a laminated quick reference sheet with recommended times and temperatures for fresh or frozen foods.

I've tried baking, broiling, steaming, frying and roasting all with satisfying success. I have yet to try the dehydrating and BBQing. I'm a bit skeptical about the BBQ, now that I know how the Nuwave works.

Wrap Up

So to recap the Nuwave Oven is not just a "good" value, I think it's a great value! It really does:

Cook from freezer to fork in 1/2 of the time Saves Energy Save space and is perfect for simple, Small Spaced living Cleans up super easy - except for food that sticks to the grill Offers loads of value for the reasonable purchase price Unpacks simply. Sets up quickly. You could be cooking that first meal within minutes.

A Few User Frustrations

The rack on which most foods are cooked, is like a miniature outdoor grilling rack. Though smaller, it's just as much of a pain to clean as a larger rack. I found that spraying it first with a non stick oil is helping to keep foods from sticking.

The cook books recipes are "iffy". As mentioned previously, some finish cooking foods perfectly, other cooking times are not even close and either dry out the meal or are not cooked enough. That said, however, once the timing is figured out, flavor is always delicious.

Since I have only had the Nuwave Oven Pro for a few months, I don't know how long it will hold up. I use it most every day and so far it is working trouble free. The only reviews I found researching, was a few cracked casings and something about the appliance not releasing enough steam when cooking. Neither apply to my experience as yet.

In fact, 3 close friends have already purchased this product as a direct result of my mouthing off about it.

It is a wonderful small kitchen appliance, that anyone would benefit from having in their kitchen, especially an empty nester like me who no longer wants to be tied to the kitchen any longer then she has to. Though I do wish I had discovered this thing when my 4 children were younger.
